The duo called on Huebsch distributor Metropolitan Laundry Machinery to outfit their 9,200-square-foot store with more than 100 Huebsch washers and dryers. In return, the New York-based distributor provided the first-time owners with invaluable information and guidance.

Ripon, Wis. – Sept. 17, 2012 - Huebsch, a dynamic player in the commercial laundry equipment market, announced today that its tumble dryers have received upgrades that improve the equipment’s already industry-leading efficiency.
Over-dry Prevention Technology (OPT) is now available on the 30- and 45-pound OPL stack tumblers while reversing technology has been added to the OPL 25-55-pound and vended 50-75-pound tumblers.
These features will help laundry managers and store owners increase throughput and reduce energy costs without compromising fabric. In the vended market, reversing tumblers can command a premium price further increasing profitability.
"Huebsch is committed to the continual improvement of our products," said Gary Dixon, North American Sales Manager, Huebsch. "These tumbler technologies are the most recent way we have responded to our customers’ demand for the most reliable, durable and energy-efficient machines on the market."
Reversing technology allows the cylinder to change direction while drying, which reduces the balling or roping of large articles, such as sheets, comforters and tablecloths. This provides an even and consistent dry.
OPT is now available on all Huebsch OPL tumblers. The technology precisely monitors and controls the level of dryness throughout the load and shuts the tumbler off automatically when it has reached its pre-set level of dryness. Eliminating over drying reduces linen fiber loss by as much as 31 percent while decreasing energy and labor costs.
Reversing and OPT are available through the revolutionary Galaxy™ 600 control.
"These technologies will save our customers time and energy, and reduce linen replacement expenses," said Dixon. "Constantly looking for ways to do that ensures that Huebsch remains the answer for the commercial laundry market."
Ripon, Wis. – Sept. 17, 2012 - Huebsch, a dynamic player in the commercial laundry market, announced today that its popular Galaxy™ 600 control is now available on Huebsch vended tumble dryers.
This control complements the Galaxy 600 control for Huebsch vended washer-extractors. When used together, laundry owners have a completely programmable store.
"The Galaxy 600 offers laundry owners a way to easily program machines so they can focus on other daily operations and customers," said Gary Dixon, North American Sales Manager for Huebsch. "We constantly look for innovative ways to help stores be more efficient. This control is just one example of how we are continuously improving our products."
The Galaxy 600 control allows laundry owners to reduce energy costs and maximize profitability. Its advanced programming features include the ability to modify dry-cycle parameters such as temperature, price and time. These features allow owners to quickly and easily monitor and adjust their laundry’s energy consumption to avoid paying for unnecessary energy expenses, while helping to increase their revenue.
Ripon, Wis. – July 23, 2012 – Huebsch, a dynamic player in the commercial laundry equipment market, announced today that its industry-leading, revolutionary eBoost™ technology is now available to vended laundry owners looking to maximize efficiency for increased profitability.
eBoost is a technology that makes Huebsch washer-extractors supremely efficient, using 33 percent less electrical energy and 11 percent less water than two-speed models.
"Laundromat owners have been asking for efficient equipment, and Huebsch is here with the answer," said Gary Dixon, North American Sales Manager, Huebsch. "With this technology, owners no longer need to use a machine that eats away at their profits because it is inefficient. eBoost is exclusive to the Huebsch brand and we developed it with store owners in mind."
eBoost provides Huebsch washer-extractors with patented Water Guardian leak detection, a one of a kind technology that detects leaks in both the drain and fill valves, eliminating wasted water and resources.
Additionally, the eBoost technology spins up to 200 G-Force, removing more water from the loads, enabling reduced dry times and gas costs.
All of the efficiency components of eBoost mean one thing for vended laundry owners - greater profitability.
eBoost technology is available on Huebsch’s Galaxy™ washer-extractors, which include the HCN020, HCN30, HCN040, HCN060 and HCN080.

Twitter users set up their profile to "follow" certain companies and individuals. These companies and individuals will send out messages, referred to as "tweets" periodically. The "tweets" will show up on the follower's personal page. Huebsch uses Twitter to post industry and distributor events, highlight exciting features and postings of other items to keep Huebsch in the forefront of our follower's minds
Most of you have already heard of Facebook. It began as purely a social website where people could display their own pictures, start conversations with other users (fans) and write about things they were doing. It has expanded to be a frequently visited website and many companies, including Huebsch, take advantage of this frequency and post many of the same items on Twitter.
LinkedIn is geared to business professionals and was developed as a networking site for business. It may not have the social aspects of a Twitter or Facebook but from a pure business point of view, it is one of the best. Many times questions are asked and answered. Huebsch plans to actively seek out these questions as they pertain to commercial laundries and provide answers because as you know, "Huebsch is the Answer".
While a picture may speak a thousand words, a video speaks a million. And YouTube is all about video! We have developed our own "channel" that YouTube users can subscribe to. Subscribers will be notified every time we add a new video. Current videos include the Huebsch Product Life Testing Lab and History of Huebsch. Future plans are to add testimonials from current laundry owners.
When a person is planning to build a new house, they scour magazines and the internet to see other houses. This gives them ideas of things they would like to include in their new house. With coin laundries, some distributors will share their "brag book" of stores they have done. Huebsch has created the Huebsch Laundry Showcase on Shutterfly to provide all of you with a Huebsch "Brag Book". If you have some great store photos to share, please contact your Huebsch regional sales manager.

Ripon, Wis. – July 7, 2011 – Alliance Laundry System LLC, a leading global commercial laundry equipment provider, announced today that it has streamlined its in-house loan process with a new online credit application.
The credit application will be available through Huebsch Financial. New investors looking to open a vended laundry, existing store owners and laundry facility managers can apply for loans of up to $100,000, or get pre-qualified for any finance amount, using the new online credit application. The new credit application is designed for ease of use, safety and security. Once the applicant has filled out the form, there is no additional paperwork to complete. Winter 2011
Huebsch distributor, Kory Orchard of East Coast Laundry discusses how he helped the Marnier King Inn, a historic hotel in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia redesign their laundry room. Working with limited space, Orchard equipped the hotel with Huebsch machines capable of keeping luxury linens and towels in quality condition for guest use.
When it comes to harmful impacts on the environment, laundry gets a bad rap. Unfortunately, there's really no way around the fact that hotels need to do their laundry. Susan Reibling, owner of the Mariner King Inn in historic Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, found a supplier who provided her with the products that were not only right for her business, but for the environment.
Renovating part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site is not something every entrepreneur has to deal with or even consider, but Reibling made it a hobby about 10 years ago. Living in Lunenburg, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995, Reibling heads investment company Stellar Investments Inc. Under this company, Reibling owns at least three businesses in Lunenburg: kitchenware shop Cilantro: The Cooks Shop, Italian restaurant Trattoria della Nonna, and the newly renovated Mariner King Inn purchased in 2007 and the four and a half star inn in Lunenburg. All of these businesses are located on King Street, which according to Reibling has been nicknamed "UNESCO FRESCO."
As Reibling had learned over her decade of experience, renovating historic buildings isn't easy. The problem becomes, how do you keep the feeling of centuries of history within a building while renovating? After all, the Mariner King Inn was constructed in 1830 and to leave it exactly how it was over a hundred years later might lead to some serious building code violations. It takes care and serious attention to detail. Reibling considers the blue-grey façade with the white and red trim to be her crowning achievement. Reibling also admits that she's had her critics when it comes to her renovations, but the support and approval she's received has been most agreeable. Renovations included expanding the Mariner King Inn by adding rooms and suites to the Candy Apple and Cranberry buildings, which opened in the summers of 2009 and 2010, respectively. An elevator was also added to allow wheelchair accessibility.
"You know you've done a good job when one of the family members brings you two old clocks and family photos from the original house, as they felt those items needed to come back. For that I'm thankful," says Reibling.
But once the renovations were completed, giving the Mariner King Inn a total of eight suites and six rooms, with a capacity of approximately 30 people, the issue became how to keep the place four and a half stars without compromising its historical character. And this applied particularly to their laundry. Towels and sheets, not to mention the linens from the dining room, needed to be kept in top shape to ensure the high-end quality of the Mariner King Inn. This is why Reibling went with East Coast Laundry Equipment.
"East Coast Laundry Equipment has a very good reputation and carries an excellent product, and Kory [Orchard] is personable and attentive to issues," says Reib-ling, commenting on East Coast Laundry Equipment's sales manager Kory Orchard who oversaw the project.
"This was a very fun and unique project," says Orchard, commenting on getting the chance to work in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. "The owners were making significant renovations to a building that was over 100 years old. Due to the various business requirements of the facility the laundry room was fairly compact so we needed equipment that could produce what was required in a smaller floor space."
East Coast Laundry Equipment supplied the Mariner King Inn with two Huebsch HCN030 - 30LB Capacity Galaxy 400 Washer/Extractors and one Huebsch HTT45 Stacked 45LB Capacity Gas Dryer. The washer/extractors may look small but are in fact made for commercial use. This is perfect for a place like the Mariner King Inn, which considering was built in the 1800s as a tribute to King William, no accommodations were made in its floor plan for a giant, commercial use laundry. The washer/extractors fit snugly into the Mariner King's laundry room. And, as already mentioned, they are up to the job. They can hold up to a capacity of 18 pounds. East Coast Laundry Equipment also installed smaller, coin-operated Huebsch equipment to be used by the Mariner King Inn's guests.
Orchard and Reibling met numerous times to determine what products would be the best fit. Orchard decided to go with Huebsch for the Mariner King because it managed to keep the inn's high-end quality while reducing costs and environmental impact. East Coast Laundry Equipment has been selling Huebsch products for almost 30 years, so it's a brand they trust. Not only that, but Huebsch has been shifting towards producing environmentally-friendly machinery.
"With the ever increasing importance and focus on reducing environmental impact some manufacturers like Huebsch are making an extra effort to reduce the amount of energy consumed by their equipment," says Orchard.
The Galaxy 400, which is the microprocessor control platform used on the washer/extractors, allows the user to select different water levels. This means that just the right amount of water and energy is used to get the job done, rather than too much. Huebsch's stacked dryer design also reduces energy consumption while still producing faster dry times. This minimizes the amount of labour needed and thus, reduces costs. How much energy is saved depends on many factors, including type of material and the way air flows through it. A huge concern of laundry's impact on the environment is its excess water and energy use, so Huebsch's line of Galaxy products is quite revolutionary.
"These products are both more friendly to the environment as well as reduce operational costs for hotel customers. With ever increasing competition, reducing operational costs can make a big difference to the bottom line," says Orchard.

Huebsch has the answer for vended laundry owners desiring greater control of their businesses, and that answer is Galaxy - the next generation of washer-extractor controls. The Galaxy line is designed to aid management, while offering the features and wash quality customers want.
Vended laundry owners can choose from three levels - Galaxy 600, Galaxy 400 and Galaxy 200.
"For years, Huebsch has been the answer for store owners looking for high quality, dependable equipment," said Barry Christenson, Huebsch national sales manager. "With the launch of Galaxy, we've added our most user-friendly controls with the 'green' features owners need to curb expenses and maintain a high level of profitability," he said.
Among the Galaxy 600 features to make management easy are:
- PC/PDA programming and audit via an infrared port
- Time-of-day pricing
- Ability to interface with card reader of owner's choice
- Advanced leak detection is a green feature to prevent wasting water
- 30 water levels to select from to reduce water consumption
Galaxy 600 also offers a variety of features and improvements customers will appreciate, such as:
- 24 possible cycle selections
- Extra wash and rinse keys
- Control instructions offered in both English and Spanish
- Washer-extractors have a new four-compartment chemical dispenser
"Galaxy 600 is the total package, taking management and customer satisfaction to the next level," Christenson said. "This new control platform also ushers in a variety of upgrades to our washer-extractor line. Owners will see improvements to the door handle as well as a more reliable door lock mechanism."
Other improvements include a triple-lip seal for advanced protection of the bearings, an upgrade to the chemical dispenser to eliminate oversudsing, and enhanced security to the coin vault. Huebsch also increased the capacity of coin vaults on the 40-, 60- and 80-pound models to account for the higher vend prices these units command.
These mechanical changes are offered on all three levels of the Galaxy Control. Galaxy 400 and 200 models, however, offer reduced control features from the Galaxy 600. Arthur Wechsler, coin laundry specialist at Ed Brown Distributors, is featured as a contributing columnist on the American Coin-Op Web site.
In his column, "Choose Your Distributor Wisely," Wechsler discusses how to select a laundry equipment distributor who is tuned to your needs as an owner or new investor.
"Look for a distributor, who after listening to you, asks questions before he/she directs you toward equipment and a store setup that will work for you," Wechsler writes. "Be wary of the distributor who sticks with, and pushes, one idea from the start."
Wechsler is a veteran of the laundry industry and experienced in guiding new investors in the coin laundry business. Ed Brown Distributors is an authorized Huebsch distributor based in Dallas, Texas.

Spring Clean Laundry in Wichita, Kan. and its owner Perry Duncan are profiled in a story titled "Going Against the Grain" in the September issue of The Journal.

David Sumner, owner of Beach Buddies Laundry Service in Panama City, Fla. is featured on the cover of the September issue of American Laundry News.
In the story, Sumner details how his business, which utilizes Huebsch washer-extractors and drying tumblers, needed to double its capacity just a few months after opening. He also discusses the challenges of starting a new business in Florida, while living in Indiana, crediting his Huebsch distributor with helping him through the process.
Beach Buddies provides laundry service to condominium developments in the Panama City area. Sumner opened the business in April 2007.
Alliance Laundry Systems has answered the call from coin laundry owners for a tumble dryer design that reduces the risk of damaged cylinder enclosures by drywall-type screws.
With its new patented design, Alliance, the world leader in manufacturing commercial laundry equipment, has created a cylinder which prohibits screws from tearing the sweep sheets.
Alliance's oblong perforations enable screws to pivot and drop out of the cylinder into the lint drawer.
The new design, only found on Alliance Laundry Systems products, will help coin laundry owners avoid the costly damage screws can do in their tumble dryers.
To see how effective the perforations are, click here to see them in action.
Todd Rice, director of Financial Services at Alliance Laundry Systems, offers his insights to the vended laundry industry in a question-and-answer story on the American Coin-Op Web site. In the interview, Rice weighs in on the state of the coin laundry business and pieces of the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008 that could be of particular benefit for owners of coin laundries as well as new investors.
Rice says various elements, including the 2008 tax incentives, could signal perhaps the best time in recent years to expand or upgrade vended laundries. He's also quick to point out that to take advantage of tax benefits, owners must put new equipment into service in 2008.
Alliance's finance department is the leader in financing commercial laundry equipment, investing more than $1 billion into commercial laundry projects. Rice is a certified public accountant and has an MBA from Marquette University.
Huebsch's recently patented oval perforations for its axial airflow tumbler cylinders are a major step toward preventing equipment damage.
For years, owners of vended laundries have had to replace cylinder enclosures due to their being damaged by screws. Drywall-size fasteners left in clothes often slip out of pockets during drying and get caught in the tumbler's cylinder perforations. While the cylinder continues to rotate, the screws tear the enclosure.
The Huebsch, oval perforations, however, pass the screws, allowing them to fall into the lint area without any damage to the cylinder or its enclosure.
"Customers have relied on Huebsch tumblers for their efficiency and innovative designs," said Barry Christenson, Huebsch national sales manager. "Our patented oval perforations are just the latest in a long line of innovations we've brought to the industry."
The new perforations are standard on Huebsch axial airflow tumblers, including popular TwinStar 45 and new DryStar 55.
Huebsch customers will have an easier time of acquiring images of its products as well as corporate logos for advertising and other uses. The brand recently launched a new Web-based image database that enables customers to easily download product images and logos.
The site offers both high resolution files, great for printed pieces, and low resolution files for use in Web-based applications and presentations.
Navigation is extremely simple and the site also allows users to search for specific products or general product types.
"Our new system gives customers and distributors excellent access to whatever images they might require," said Barry Christenson, Huebsch national sales manager. "The site is user-friendly and should save time for our Huebsch customers."

Huebsch vended laundry owner Marsha Cropper is featured as the cover story in the September 2007 issue of American Coin-Op. The story also appears on the American Coin-Op Web site.
American Coin-Op Editor Paul Partyka details Cropper's beginnings in the coin laundry business. The owner's story is unique in that she opened her store in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She recounts wanting to be involved in rebuilding the city and seeing a need for the business. Cropper owns two laundries and has plans for additional stores.
